Top Three Interior Design Styles

You do not have to look any further if you are looking for an inspiration for your interior design styles. This article features the top interior design that are common in modern households. Experts sometimes combine different aspects from numerous styles, but it is important to determine the core elements of each one.

Top Three Interior Design Styles

Modern or Mid-Century Modern

Modern design might be the ideal style for you if you enjoy neutrals with primary colors, clean lines, and accessory-free space. The principle of modern design includes functional lines and curves, basic shapes, furnishings without decorative parts, and materials such as glass, chrome, and metal.

Among the interior design styles from Interiordesignlover, modern style makes life easier because there are no objects to dust around or detailed carvings to clean. If you love open space and do not need to fill your home with furnishings and accessories, you would enjoy the space that modern interiors create.

Modern furniture is structured with sleek surfaces. The pieces are created to save space and to serve a function; they are uncluttered, simple, and kept to a bare minimum. The driving concept of modern design is honesty – building material and keeping structure in plain sight. Also gaining importance is sustainability. More interior designers are building materials from renewable sources and reclaiming things to use for modern design.

Contemporary

Modern and contemporary interior design styles are sometimes thought to be one and the same. While modern design does not change, contemporary style is ever changing; it means what is current.

To clearly define it, contemporary means belonging to the same time; living, existing, or occurring at the same time. This is exactly the same if contemporary is used in interior design. Contemporary design style refers to what is used or popular at the moment. For that reason, it can be diverse since it is changing from time to time. Contemporary interior design styles use pieces from different eras. It does not necessarily need to be something related to the present. For instance, art pieces and furniture from the modern era are sometimes used in contemporary design, and traditional millwork and decorations are combined in many cases.

At the moment, a home with contemporary interior design may have odd or unique shapes, coordination with the surrounding landscape, and large windows. The finishes use natural elements like cedar, stone, and fir. The furniture and finishing details are elaborate and use clean lines.

Traditional

Traditional interior design styles are typically reminiscent of classic European designs. The trademarks of a traditional design normally incorporate deep wood tones, elegant furnishings, and architectural details. This design is truly versatile and creates a distinct look in a room if mixed with other interior elements.

The silhouettes or the lines of the furnishings are one of the most vital components of traditional interior design. Claw-footed tables, curved pieces of furniture, and wing-backed chairs that are inspired from the 18th and 19th centuries are some of the examples of this.

This type of interior design also widely uses architectural embellishments, such as beveled wood paneling, intricate wood floor and tile patterns, and elaborate decorations. Built-in cabinets, columns, and arches are also common features of traditional interior design styles.

Another key element of traditional design is the use of rich wood tones. Dark woods such as mahogany, maple, and cherry are commonly used as pieces of furniture in this design. Oftentimes, they are lacquered and carved for them to have an elegant, lavish feel. While carpet and tile are used as well, wood floors are considered a standard feature for this design.

To visually support the intricate furnishings, the walls are usually painted with neutral colors. Most furniture in traditional design uses rich shades of colors like blue, brown, and red. Moreover, accessories and art pieces often have more vibrant colors.
